Te Wera To Sing

Family Photo

Goin back to the early days of high school,
Made new friends, became a real tight team.
God those years, we really had a good time,
Looking back now it really seems a dream.
Goin out all night and end up at some party,
Not a care in the world or where you might
wake up.
Well one day I got introduced to Mary.
I never knew I’d become so star-struck.

(Chorus 1)
One day with a few friends, way out in the
country
Fool ‘in around, we thought we’d all dress up.
With hunting clothes, guns pointing at the
camera,
On the bonnet of my ’57 truck.

(Harp instrumental)

And from that day, was born the family photo.
For each of us, it held a special place.
Framed on the wall, right beside the fireplace.
Or on a shelf where there was a space.
Years went by—now in our early 6o’s.
We thought we’d meet and recreate that day.
Sadly, one had passed too soon from
drinking,
So, the one who shot the photo took his
place.

(Chorus 2)
Invited friends, a group approaching twenty.
One we hadn’t seen in 40 years.
What a blast, it seemed like it was yesterday
We laughed so much, our faces streaming tears.
This song is really all about our friendships.
Don’t lose sight, make sure you keep in touch.
You realise, as you start to get older,

Just what they mean, and you realise how much
Just what they mean, and you realise how much
Just what they mean, and you realise how much.
